The 24-year-old, in his first full PGA Tour season, won his second career event with a strong final-round 64.

Michael Brennan reigns supreme this week on the PGA Tour. Brennan, who turned pro in 2024, is in his rookie PGA Tour season. This has been his first full year on Tour, and right now, in his own words, “I am playing the best golf I have ever played.” His last win came in October 2025 at the Bank of Utah Championship.

If you remember from our preview, Michael Brennan was an off-the-board pick. That certainly won’t be the case heading into next week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The strongest part of his tournament? His final round.

Brennan shot a 64 on Sunday, which included five straight birdies on the front nine that really propelled his momentum. Coming down the stretch after bogeying the 11th, his drives were spraying left and right, and there was a huge thought of, “Oh no, this could implode real fast.”

This was amplified even more by his playing partner, Beau Hossler, being within two shots and becoming a par machine. All it would have taken was one poor tee shot to force a penalty or a conservative next shot, which could have led to a bogey or worse. Suddenly, Brennan’s lead could have been down to one or even tied.

The main reason Brennan propelled himself to where he finished was his weekend performance: 13-under, following up a 7-under Saturday with his masterpiece on Sunday.

That masterful performance launched him from 105th in the FedEx Cup standings to 47th, putting him in the playoffs next week. A top-50 finish also guarantees him a spot in all of the Signature Events next season.

What Happened to Cameron Young?

Cameron Young started with a 1-over 71, with three bogeys and a double bogey, and that round set the tone for what would occur the rest of the way.

He would shoot 4-under in Round 2 to just make the cut at 3-under through 36 holes. His third round, featuring five bogeys and a 2-over score, was the nail in the coffin.

Eleven bogeys and one double bogey was all she wrote for his weekend.

Young did finish strong with a 3-under 68 in Round 4, which will be huge heading into the playoffs. It was an uncharacteristic title defense for Young. There was one shot where he just missed the green, looked visibly frustrated, and slammed his club — something you just never see from him.

Rosati (1-0-0, 5 points)

Icing on the cake this week with Matsuyama!

What an unbelievable start for him that could have been his first win in some time. He started out 5-under on Thursday, but slowed down on Friday with a 1-under round before firing back-to-back 4-under rounds on the weekend.

The issue for Hideki was the bogeys, with nine of them and a double bogey. While bogeys are going to happen, dropping three shots on Sunday was the difference between a T7 and a T3 finish this week.

All in all, it was a solid week for him heading into the playoffs!

Smith (0-1-0, 2 points: T-2nd Wyndham)

Ryan Gerard missed the cut this week, ending his hot streak heading into the tournament.

Gerard started out decently, going 3-under in Round 1, but five bogeys in Round 2 were the dagger for his weekend, leading to a 1-over 71. The cut was 3-under, so it was literally one bogey too many.

Gerard finished the season 16th in the FedEx Cup standings, so he will be at all four majors next year, which is huge for his rising-star status.

Hutson (0-1-0, 2 points: T-2nd Wyndham)

Ben Griffin was also one shot short of the cut this week.

Three bogeys dampened an otherwise good opening round at the Wyndham Championship, where he shot 1-under. However, a lack of birdies on Thursday sent him home two days early for some extra preparation heading into the playoffs.

Griffin finished 36th in the FedEx Cup standings, which will see him exempt from qualifying for all Signature Events next year. However, he will still have to qualify for the majors.
